About me

Chrissy Dwyer is an experienced Visual Arts teacher with over 10 years in the classroom. She has held the role of Curriculum Leader Arts for 5 years. Passionate about helping educators, she has been the regional coordinator for the Darling Downs Queensland Art Teachers Association for 5 years. Dwyer has supervised pre-service teachers and been a professional growth facilitator. She has worked for Queensland Curriculum Assessment Authority in the role of Assessor Confirmer and External Marker for the General Senior Visual Art syllabus.

Prior to teaching, she worked for Flying Arts Alliance as Education and Program Coordinator for 3 years.

Chrissy is passionate about engaging adolescents inside and outside the visual art classroom. She is enthusiastic about igniting creativity improving self-esteem in the adolescence she teaches. Pedagogical tools she loves to use include Harvard Project Zero, Visual Thinking Strategies and Slow Looking methods.

Chrissy can facilitate professional development for your staff and volunteers aimed at improving interactions with school-age audiences.

She has provided professional development to Primary specialist teachers, taught Adult Workshops and spoken at the Museum and Gallery Services Queensland in 2024 about this topic.
